Facial Scan Policy And Release

The terms of this Facial Scan Policy and Release describe how MRI Software LLC, CheckpointID, Inc., and their affiliated companies (collectively, “MRI Companies”) treat scans of facial geometry extracted from photos. Notwithstanding anything that could be construed to the contrary in the Privacy Policy or any other document, where there is any inconsistency or ambiguity between the terms of this Facial Scan Policy and Release and any other document, these terms shall prevail.

The MRI Companies, acting as a service provider to the property rental company with which you are interacting (“Property”), work with third-party vendor IDScan.net, Inc. (“IDScan”) to compare the data from a scan of facial geometry extracted from the government identification document that you upload to the data from a scan of facial geometry extracted from the photos of your face that you upload, in order to help verify your identity (“Verification”). When you use the Verification service, the MRI Companies share your government identification document and photos of your face with IDScan to extract facial geometry from your government identification document and photos of your face that you upload, compare the facial geometry from your government-issued identification document to the facial geometry from your selfie photos to help verify your identity, check the government identification document for signs of fraud, and then produce results that indicate whether the selfie photos match the government identification document and whether the government identification document is authentic. The MRI Companies, as the Property’s service provider, then share these results with the Property. MRI Companies do not provide the Property with access to your facial geometry data.  Additionally, MRI Companies’ third-party vendors such as Microsoft Azure may have access to the data from scans of facial geometry extracted from the photos of your face that you upload to host the data while the facial comparison is conducted and to service the systems on which such data is hosted.

All facial geometry data is deleted immediately upon completion of Verification. The MRI Companies use the reasonable standards of care within their industries to store, transmit, and protect from disclosure the data from scans of facial geometry extracted from the photos of your face that you upload in a manner that is the same as or more protective than the manner in which they store, transmit, and protect other confidential and sensitive information. The MRI Companies will not sell, lease, trade, or otherwise profit from data from scans of facial geometry extracted from the photos of your face that you upload. Other than as set forth herein, the MRI Companies will not disclose, redisclose, or otherwise disseminate data from scans of facial geometry extracted from the photos of your face that you upload unless doing so: A. Completes a transaction requested and authorized by you or your legally authorized representative; B. Is required by state or federal law, or municipal ordinance; C. Is required pursuant to a warrant or subpoena issued by a court of competent jurisdiction; or D. Is consented to by you or your legally authorized representative.

By clicking on the “Proceed” button or otherwise proceeding to use the Verification services, you agree that: (1) you have read, understand, and voluntarily consent to the Facial Scan Policy and Release, Privacy Policy, and Arbitration Agreement,  (2) you release any claims related to data from scans of facial geometry extracted from the photos of your face that you upload, and (3) you are not using the Verification services from within a jurisdiction that prohibits use of the Verification services.
